Self Advocacy Support for People with Learning Difficulties
We facilitate two self advocacy forums a year, and one Christmas Social, to enable clients who access a range of service providers to come together and discuss issues that concern them such as care, access to services and transport.
- collating themes and producing easy read minutes
- supporting self-advocates to utilise suitable platforms to progress these issues further (such as the York LD Forum hosted by CVS and the LD Partnership Board)
- bringing wider themes we have gathered to the forums for further discussion
- Feeding back key consultations and issues from the local authority, CCG and TEWV to the forum so they can have their day.
The forum usually meets in May and September at Tang Hall Community Centre, and there's always tea and cake!
If you are a self-advocate or family carer and would like to be involved in these forums please contact Adele Rudge on 01904 414357 for more information.
