Healthwatch is the new independent consumer champion – locally and nationally – giving you the opportunity to promote better outcomes in health and in social care for adults and children. Healthwatch will provide evidence, including people’s view and experience of health services, to influence the policy, planning, commissioning and delivery of health and social care services.
Healthwatch will also provide information and advice to help you access and make choices about services provided locally. Healthwatch has statutory powers and will be responsive and act on concerns when service delivery goes wrong.
Healthwatch consists of the national body Healthwatch England and 150 Local Healthwatch across the country. Local Healthwatch will be independent statutory organisations funded through and accountable to local authorities. Local Healthwatch will be able to access Healthwatch England for advice and support and will be able to raise serious concerns with the Care Quality Commission.
