About York Advocacy Hub

York and District Mind and subsequently York Mind have delivered a successful advocacy service to the residents of York since 1997. We have in the past provided Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA), Informal Advocacy for patients in in-patient settings, Community Advocacy and facilitated the Self-advocates and family carers forums. Whilst we have previously worked within the mental health sector we have as part of our work supported a range of vulnerable people including those with learning disabilities, older people and people with physical and sensory impairments, autism and Asperger’s and young people.

We have developed a service which delivers high-quality advocacy support on a range of issues from housing, complaints, access to services and benefits.

From April 1st 2013 we will deliver a range of specialist advocacy services including, General Advocacy, NHS Advocacy and Self-Advocacy.
